International theatre festival kicks off in Itahari today



KATHMANDU: The International Theatre Festival 2025 has commenced in Itahari, Sunsari, bringing together artists and cultural workers from around the world.

Organized by the Asian People’s Theatre Festival Society in collaboration with Sarbanam Theatre, the festival is part of the Koshi Province Tourism Year-2081 celebrations.

The three-day event, hosted at the Theatre Hall within the Itahari Matrix premises, will showcase performances from 20 theatre organizations across 13 countries.

A total of 44 international artists and cultural workers are participating in the festival, which also includes workshops and cultural exchange programs.

The festival is being organized in collaboration with Itahari Matrix and Aarambha Natya Dabali.

Organizers believe the event will play a crucial role in promoting tourism in the Koshi region while fostering international cultural ties and enriching local art and heritage.
