Yogesh Bhattarai expresses displeasure over Oli’s remarks

KATHMANDU: UML Vice-General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has voiced his dissatisfaction over comments made by party Chairperson KP Sharma Oli regarding him and other leaders.

Bhattarai shared his reaction on Facebook on Friday, responding to Oli’s interview with Kantipur on Thursday.

In that interview, Oli had stated that “Surendra Pandey and Yogesh Bhattarai do not have a winning position this time” and that “Binda Pandey has no basis.” He also commented that Kavre leader Gokul Banskota had created a difficult situation by causing division among party cadres.

Bhattarai, however, said he would refrain from public criticism for now, emphasizing that his current mission is to ensure UML’s victory. “It is not appropriate to hold public debates on internal party matters until the elections on March 5,” he said. “My mission is the Sun symbol and UML. No ifs, no buts; I am neither distracted nor disappointed.”

He further added that Oli’s statements made him concerned and hurt, clarifying that he does not believe anyone received a party ticket with a written guarantee of victory.
