No major damage reported from this morning’s earthquake yet



KATHMANDU: A powerful 7-magnitude earthquake with epicenter in Dinggye County, Tibet, shook several regions of Nepal, particularly the hilly and mountainous districts of Koshi Province.

Despite the strong tremor, authorities report that the situation remains normal in these areas.

In Taplejung, Chief District Officer (CDO) Netra Prasad Sharma confirmed that the earthquake was felt in the district. Authorities have mobilized local bodies, Nepal Police, and the Armed Police Force to collect detailed reports and assess the damage.

Sankhuwasabha’s CDO, Binod Kumar Khadka, stated that no physical or human losses have been reported yet.

He mentioned that efforts to gather information are underway with the help of local authorities and security forces.

In Solukhumbu, CDO Anoj Kumar Ghimire noted that the earthquake was strongly felt.

Given the higher risk near the Everest Base Camp, all security agencies have been deployed to gather more information and ensure safety.

Bhojpur’s District Administration Officer Krishna Basnet also reported that the earthquake’s tremor was felt in the district.

Local bodies, police, and armed forces have been activated to collect data and assess any potential damage.

While the earthquake’s tremors were significant, no substantial damage or loss of life has been reported so far from the affected districts.
