Man arrested for impersonating Police Inspector in fraudulent scheme



KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has arrested a man, Sudeep Thapa, who impersonated a police inspector and was involved in fraudulent activities.

Thapa was arrested from Thapachok, Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-7, for misusing the uniform of a police inspector and carrying a fake police identification card.

According to the police, Thapa had been contacting high-ranking individuals, claiming to have connections and special recommendations for promotions.

He also shared photos of a police inspector wearing a uniform and falsely claimed to have the authority to assist people in securing jobs abroad, particularly in countries like Canada and Australia, under the guise of facilitating foreign employment.

The arrest was made following intelligence gathered on his fraudulent activities, according to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.

Additionally, police arrested Kishor Kumar Chaudhary, the operator of Marshal Printing Press in Koteshwor, Kathmandu, for his involvement in forging police inspector identity cards.

The press had been responsible for creating the fake identification.

Both individuals have been taken to the District Police Complex, Bhadrakali, for further investigation under charges of fraud and document forgery, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office reported.
