Prachanda: Gen-Z movement has created space for self-reflection and reform

KATHMANDU: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has claimed that the new political equation formed in Madhesh Province will soon be reflected in other provinces as well.

Speaking at the NCP Madhesh Province-level Unity Assembly held in Janakpur on Saturday, Prachanda said that previously assumed political alignments had been broken during the formation of the Madhesh provincial government, paving the way for a new power equation. He asserted that this new alignment, starting from Madhesh, will expand across all provinces.

Prachanda stated that the Gen-Z movement emerged because the public did not experience meaningful change in their quality of life even after the establishment of the republic. According to him, the movement has offered political forces an opportunity for self-assessment and improvement.

He added that, following internal review prompted by the Gen-Z movement, a broader unity has been initiated to work toward national development with new approaches. Prachanda emphasized that only the unity of the people can defeat regressive and reactionary elements, and claimed that the NPC will lead this effort.

He also mentioned plans to bring leftists and revolutionaries within the UML, along with other communist parties, under the umbrella of the Nepali Communist Party.

Prachanda said that major development projects in Madhesh Province were initiated under left-led governments and asserted that completing these projects would also require communist leadership.

Similarly, NCP Co-Coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal said that youth attraction toward the party has significantly increased, with thousands of young people joining the NCP. He claimed the party will play a key role in ensuring good governance, ending corruption, and advancing the legitimate demands of the Gen-Z movement.

Other NCP leaders expressed that the party aims to establish itself as a strong political force and address the various irregularities seen in the country. NCP has been organizing unity assemblies in different provinces to promote party unity, and has announced upcoming events in Karnali and Kathmandu.
