Authorities intensify market monitoring, takes action against eight firms



KATHMANDU: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has stepped up market monitoring in recent days, bringing eight industries and firms in Kathmandu and Lalitpur under regulatory action.

The Department imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on Om Sai of Naya Bazar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–17, citing violations under Sections 15 and 38(D) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS. Action was taken in accordance with Section 1A of the same Act.

General directives have been issued to Pashupati Zipper House, JN Mountain Gear, Sajin Agro Packaging Industries, Shakti Food Pvt. Ltd., Supreme Industries, Shree Ratna Rolling Mills, and Bira Furniture. Among them, Supreme Industries has been instructed to contact the department within three days with all relevant business documents.

According to the Department, these firms were brought under action after being found without the required documents mandated by law.
