KATHMANDU: Following the merger of the CPN (Unified Socialist) led by Madhav Kumar Nepal with the Nepali Communist Party led by the CPN (Maoist Centre), several leaders are preparing to return to the CPN-UML.

Former Unified Socialist leaders Ram Kumari Jhakri and Kisan Shrestha, along with more than 50 central committee members, are set to rejoin UML on Monday.

In preparation for their return, Jhakri and Shrestha met UML chair KP Sharma Oli and general secretary Shankar Pokharel at Gundu, Bhaktapur, on Thursday.

According to Oli’s close aide Mahesh Basnet, the group will formally return to the party during a special event titled “Ghar Farkine Abhiyan” (Return Home Campaign) at the Rastriya Sabha Griha, Kathmandu, at 3 PM on Monday.

Several former lawmakers are also expected to join UML along with them. Jhakri and Shrestha had publicly announced their decision to return to UML during a program held at Hotel Basera in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
