Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party to hold public rally in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand is set to stage a public demonstration in Kathmandu on Thursday.

The party announced that the protest will begin at 12 PM from Sundhara and culminate in a public assembly at Bhrikuti Mandap at 1 PM. Party General Secretary Chand “Biplav” is scheduled to address the rally.

This demonstration follows the recent split in the Biplav faction, after Chiran Pun and nine other leftist groups merged on Wednesday to form a unified left front. Biplav did not participate in the left unity program.

Despite its history of rebellion, the Biplav-led party has recently registered with the Election Commission under the name “Communist Party Nepal.”
