Nepal Airlines operating charter flight from Bhairahawa to Kathmandu today

KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is operating a special charter flight from Bhairahawa to Kathmandu at 1 PM today, after rescheduling the flight that was initially planned for Sunday.

The government had directed NAC to arrange charter flights to rescue passengers stranded in Bhairahawa due to road blockages caused by landslides and heavy rainfall during the Dashain holidays.

According to NAC spokesperson Subash Dangi, a narrow-body aircraft will fly the Kathmandu–Bhairahawa–Kathmandu route, departing the capital at 1 PM and returning with stranded passengers.

The flight was originally scheduled for Sunday, but logistical challenges and aircraft availability led to a one-day delay.

The decision to operate the flight was made following instructions from Prime Minister Sushila Karki, who responded to reports of stranded passengers reaching the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The Chief Secretary was tasked with coordinating the response through the District Administration Office in Rupandehi.

Stranded passengers have been asked to contact the Nepal Airlines counter at Bhairahawa Airport or reach out directly to Arun Panthi (9857023671), a local representative of the airline, for assistance with ticketing and inquiries.
