34 disaster incidents recorded across Nepal in a single day



KATHMANDU: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) reported 34 disaster incidents across the country on Friday. These included landslides, continuous rainfall, lightning strikes, fires, and animal attacks.

According to the authority, one person was killed and six others were injured. Five roads were obstructed, while property damage was estimated at around Rs 395,000.

Landslides disrupted life in Panchthar, Taplejung, Lamjung, Mustang, Rolpa, Rukum East, Surkhet, Jajarkot, Rukum West, Doti, Bajhang, and Solukhumbu. Incidents of heavy rainfall were reported in Solukhumbu, Kaski, Dang, Kalikot, Rukum West, Baitadi, and Dadeldhura. Lightning strikes occurred in Bajhang, Sunsari, Okhaldhunga, Rupandehi, Surkhet, Mugu, and Kailali, while animal attacks were recorded in Sarlahi, Bardiya, Kanchanpur, and Doti.

Since mid-April, Nepal has recorded 3,447 disaster incidents, leaving 221 people dead, 22 missing, and 811 injured. A total of 6,261 households have been affected.

Among them, 254 flood incidents resulted in 27 deaths, 22 missing, 10 injuries, and 1,812 affected households. Similarly, 418 landslides caused 19 deaths and affected 559 households.

Fire incidents were the most frequent, with 1,231 cases reported. These fires claimed 23 lives and injured 174 people. (RSS)
