150 players shortlisted for Nepal Premier League auction

KATHMANDU: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has finalized a list of 150 players for the upcoming auction of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), the country’s flagship franchise-based T20 tournament.

The list was trimmed down from an initial pool of 458 players who had registered their interest. According to CAN, the final selection was based on recommendations from its technical committee and the preferences expressed by the eight participating franchises.

The shortlisted players have been divided into three categories. Category ‘A’ features eight top-tier cricketers: Arjun Saud, Dilip Nath, Dev Khanal, Pawan Sarraf, Sharad Bheshwakar, Mohammad Adil Ansari, Surya Tamang, and Suman Gautam.

Category ‘B’ includes 35 players, among them Anil Kharel, Arjun Kumal, Deepak Bohora, Krishna Karki, and Prajwal Thapa. The remaining 107 cricketers have been placed in Category ‘C’.

The NPL auction is scheduled to take place on August 9, with teams expected to bid strategically to strengthen their squads ahead of the highly anticipated tournament.
