96 percent of paddy plantation completed in Karnali Province



SURKHET: Paddy plantation in Karnali Province has reached 96 percent completion. According to the Directorate of Agricultural Development, Karnali Province, out of 41,042 hectares of cultivable paddy land, plantation has been completed on 39,594.9 hectares.

Tilak Prasad Pandey, acting director of the directorate, reported that among the province’s 10 districts, Jumla, Humla, and Dolpa have achieved 100 percent plantation. Specifically, plantation is complete on 2,890 hectares in Jumla, 585 hectares in Humla, and 198 hectares in Dolpa.

Four other districts have nearly completed plantation, with rates around 99 percent. Jajarkot leads with 99.2 percent, followed by Salyan, Mugu, and Rukum West, each at 99 percent. In Jajarkot, 2,623 hectares out of 2,645 hectares have been planted, while Salyan has completed plantation on 6,072 hectares out of 6,134 hectares. Kalikot follows closely with 98 percent, having planted 2,412 hectares out of 2,462 hectares.

Surkhet, which has the largest paddy cultivation area in the province, has completed 95 percent of plantation. Out of a total of 14,921 hectares, plantation has been done on 14,174.95 hectares. In Dailekh, plantation has been completed on 7,866 hectares out of 7,620 hectares.
