KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has emphasized the need for an education system that aligns with Nepal’s development aspirations by focusing on domestic production, employment generation, and the preparation of skilled, disciplined, and labor-respecting citizens.
Speaking at a program marking the 75th anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) of Nepal Adarsha Secondary School in Kathmandu, President Paudel underscored the importance of curriculum reform and modern pedagogy to meet national needs in this era of rapid technological advancement.
“In this modern age, we must provide education that supports Nepal’s aspirations for increased production, job creation, and infrastructure development,” said the Head of State.
“Following political transformation, Nepal is advancing along the path of development within a federal democratic republic. It is imperative that we deliver quality education from the school level by updating curricula, harnessing technology, and effectively utilizing human resources.”
He urged the government and all stakeholders in the education sector to prioritize education that produces capable and competitive individuals, emphasizing technical knowledge, innovation, and global competitiveness.
President Paudel also highlighted the need to reduce the trend of students going abroad for education by developing human resources tailored to domestic market demands.
“Education plays a transformative role—it transfers knowledge, creates awareness, and fosters societal progress. It is the foundation of a civilized, cultured society and the bedrock of national development,” he said.
Recalling the historical significance of Nepal Adarsha Secondary School, President Paudel noted that its establishment during the autocratic Rana regime was a bold step toward public empowerment through education.
“At a time when the regime sought to keep people uneducated out of fear of dissent, the founding of this school in the heart of the capital was a historic event,” he said.
He added that the school’s name—‘Nepal Adarsha’ (Nepal Ideal)—reflects the vision of its founders and their commitment to producing diligent and patriotic students.
On the occasion, President Paudel honored several notable alumni and contributors to the school, including Supreme Court Justice Sapana Malla Pradhan and Nepal Bar Association President Bijaya Prasad Mishra.
