House of Representatives meeting postponed until Sunday

KATHMANDU: The scheduled meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been postponed.

Originally set for 1 p.m. on Friday, the meeting has now been rescheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, according to an official notice.

The postponement comes amid continued obstruction by opposition parties, who allege that Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak is implicated in the visit visa controversy.

The opposition has demanded the formation of a high-level investigation committee as a non-negotiable condition to allow parliamentary proceedings to resume.

Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda held discussions with top opposition leaders earlier in the day to address the ongoing deadlock.

Following the meeting, Dahal stated that the crisis could be resolved if the government agrees to form a credible investigation committee.

“The main issue is the investigation. If the government commits to a reliable inquiry, the matter can be settled,” he said.

He added that it was deemed appropriate to consult with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and that a mutual understanding had been reached to suspend Friday’s session.
