Govt’s performance requires serious review: Gagan Thapa

BIRATNAGAR: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said a serious review of the current coalition government’s performance is necessary, as it has not delivered the expected results despite being formed by the country’s two largest parties.

Speaking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport on Friday, Thapa said the party’s central working committee would soon take concrete decisions to make the government more effective.

On the Patanjali land controversy, Thapa stated that there is no alternative to awaiting the court’s verdict. He said the constitutional anti-corruption body filed the case according to the law and that the matter must be trusted to the judiciary.

Thapa also criticized the delay in forming the constitution amendment committee, which was agreed upon during the current government’s formation. He urged that the committee be formed soon so that the amendment agenda can proceed.

He further informed that preparations are underway to hold the Nepali Congress general convention in December 2026, with ongoing work on party membership and related processes.
