Locals elated after village roads blacktopped

DANG: Residents of Lamidanda in Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City-12 have expressed happiness and relief after the blacktopping of roads that were once muddy during the monsoon and dusty the rest of the year.

“It used to be so muddy that even cycling was a struggle,” said local resident Nanda Kumar Pun. “Now, it’s easy to reach the market by bicycle, and the commute is much faster.”

Previously, the dust kicked up by vehicles would enter homes and settle on clean laundry, creating constant discomfort.

“Even dried clothes would get dusty, and the house would be dirty,” said Devi Thapa. “But now, that problem has been resolved.” A stretch of 800 meters of road in Lamidanda has now been blacktopped.

A similar transformation has taken place in Hari Pauri of Tulsipur-12, where residents previously dealt with mud reaching waist-deep and homes being submerged during the rainy season.

“It used to be very difficult during the monsoon,” said Dila KC. “But now, with proper drainage and blacktopped roads, life has become much easier.” In Hari Pauri, 350 meters of road have been surfaced.

A total budget of Rs. 8.6 million was allocated for these two road sections. Ward Chairman Khushiram Chaudhary stated that the work was completed under the municipal budget for the current fiscal year. He emphasized that the budget was allocated based on local needs and priorities.

“We’re working to upgrade and blacktop roads in rural areas to ensure balanced development,” Chaudhary said.

“This has significantly improved local mobility.” He added that over a dozen roads have been upgraded in the ward this year alone, with new road tracks opened, drains constructed, culverts laid, and gravelling completed where necessary.
