Amresh Kumar Singh demands Health Minister’s resignation over appointment dispute

KATHMANDU: Independent Member of Parliament Amresh Kumar Singh has called for the immediate resignation of Health Minister Pradeep Paudel, alleging biased decision-making in the recent appointment of the Health Secretary.

Singh criticized the minister for appointing Dr. Bikash Devkota as the Secretary of the Ministry of Health, bypassing Sangita Kaushal Mishra, who was ranked first for the position.

He accused the government of political favoritism and discrimination, particularly against Madhesi officials.

“The individual ranked number one was overlooked, and this decision reflects a pattern of sidelining Madhesis based on political vendetta,” Singh said in Parliament on Thursday.

The controversy stems from a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, which officially recommended Dr. Devkota for the post.

Paudel has yet to respond to the demand for his resignation.
