TANSEN: A massive wildfire that broke out at Sansarkot hill, near Ribdikot Rural Municipality-1 and 2, continues to rage, causing extensive damage to community forests in the area.

According to the District Police Office, efforts to control the fire have been severely hindered by dense fog and strong winds, allowing the flames to spread rapidly.

The Division Forest Office reported that the fire has already ravaged 170 hectares of land, affecting Lek Community Forest, Bharekhola Community Forest, Madhuban Community Forest, and Brindavan Community Forest in Deurali.

In response, personnel from the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and local residents have been mobilized to contain the inferno. However, the challenging weather conditions and the vast area affected have made firefighting efforts difficult.

Authorities are urging local communities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as dry conditions increase the risk of further wildfires in the region.
