Dr. Bikas Devkota appointed as Health Secretary



KATHMANDU: The government has promoted Dr. Bikas Devkota as the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population.

A Council of Ministers meeting held on March 5 made the decision to elevate Dr. Devkota to the top administrative post in the ministry.

Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki confirmed that Dr. Devkota will assume office immediately.

Dr. Devkota was among three candidates recommended for the position, and his selection marks a significant leadership transition in the ministry.

His appointment comes at a time when Nepal’s health sector is grappling with multiple challenges, including strengthening healthcare infrastructure and managing public health policies.
