Gas cylinder explosion in Kathmandu’s Kamalpokhari injures 14 people



KATHMANDU: A gas cylinder explosion occurred in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu, this morning at 8:45 AM, injuring 14 people.

Of the injured, 11 have been hospitalized, while three others are in stable condition.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shekhar Khanal, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, confirmed that the explosion took place at the Sandar Momo shop in the area.

The victims were workers of the same shop.

One of the injured, 24-year-old Sanjog Magar from Udayapur, is in critical condition.

Five of the injured have been transported to the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur.

The blast caused the ceiling of the building to collapse. Search operations are currently underway.

The Nepal Police’s Disaster Management Team and the Maligaun Police Team have been deployed to the site.
