Maoist leaders suggest Prachanda and all party members engage in productive labor

Central Committee members of the main opposition, the CPN (Maoist Centre), have stressed the need to unify the party and move forward.

During the second day of the Central Committee meeting held in Kathmandu on Sunday, members highlighted that stepping away from the government has provided a historic opportunity to reconnect with the people.

According to party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota, members emphasized the importance of utilizing this time outside the government to strengthen party unity and move ahead collectively.

Oli government increases public transport fares

The government led by KP Sharma Oli has increased the fares for public transportation across the country. Additionally, the government has raised the fares for freight vehicles as well.

The fare for passenger vehicles has been increased by 3.30%, while the fare for freight vehicles operating on hilly routes has been raised by 0.83%. The fare for freight vehicles on Terai routes has increased by 0.05%.

The Department of Transport Management stated that the fare adjustment has been based on the fuel share of 35% and other factors contributing to 65%, leading to the fare hike accordingly.

The ongoing detention hearing for high-profile defendants, including former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane and former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, has drawn prominent legal experts to Pokhara.

The cooperative fraud case has become a focal point for legal debates, with lawyers presenting arguments both for and against the accused.

On Sunday, senior advocate Shambhu Thapa argued on behalf of Chhabilal Joshi at the Kaski District Court.

Locals take over helipads in Everest region and stop all helicopter flights

Commercial helicopter flights to the Everest region have been suspended indefinitely due to safety concerns and escalating tensions between local communities and aviation authorities.

This comes after youth groups in the Khumbu region erected flag barriers on helipads, citing environmental and safety concerns over the increasing number of helicopter operations.

The youth groups have said only emergency flights will be allowed to land in the region.

Internal rift looming in RPP as Lingden’s leadership faces scrutiny

Serious questions have surfaced about the leadership capabilities of Rajendra Lingden, Chairperson of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), following the party’s poor performance in recent local by-elections.

Allegations of his refusal to collaborate with like-minded parties and groups have fueled internal dissatisfaction.

The RPP failed to secure deposits for all its candidates in the local by-elections, with dismal performances even in Lingden’s home district.

Congress MP Thani clashes with Chair Khatiwada over committee proceedings

 A meeting of the Federal Parliament’s State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, chaired by Congress MP Ram Hari Khatiwada, turned contentious on Monday when Congress MP Hridayaram Thani criticized the chair’s leadership style and questioned the committee’s inefficiency.

The meeting, held in Singha Durbar, was scheduled to discuss complaints against Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, and Federal Parliament Secretary Padam Prasad Pandey.

Thani accused the committee of neglecting its responsibilities, citing delays in advancing crucial bills, including the anti-corruption bill.

Buddha Air flight makes emergency landing at Tribhuvan International Airport

A Buddha Air flight bound for Chandragadhi, Jhapa, made an emergency landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu on Monday morning.

The aircraft, with call sign BHA 953, departed Kathmandu at 10:37 am and returned for an emergency landing at 11:15 am.

According to Jagannath Niraula, General Manager of TIA’s Civil Aviation Office, the plane experienced a flameout in its left engine approximately 43 nautical miles east of Kathmandu.

Gold and silver prices unchanged

The prices of gold and silver in the Nepali market remain stable today.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers Association, the price of gold is being traded at Rs 152,000 per tola.

Similarly, the price of silver has also remained unchanged, with the value maintaining at Rs 1,810, the same as the previous day.
