Nepal suffer fourth straight defeat in ICC World Cricket League 2 series in UAE



KATHMANDU: Nepal suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in the ICC World Cricket League 2 ODI series held in the UAE, losing to the hosts by 4 wickets in the final match of the series on Wednesday.

Batting first after losing the toss, Nepal posted a total of 239 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs. Bhim Sharki top-scored with 48 runs, followed by Kushal Malla (45), Dipendra Singh Airee (37), Aasif Sheikh (34), and Arif Sheikh (30).

For UAE, Dhruv Parashar took 2 wickets for 28 runs in 10 overs, Junaid Siddique grabbed 2 for 36, Muhammad Jawadullah claimed 2 wickets, while Zahid Ali picked up one.

Chasing a target of 240, the UAE reached 241 for 6 in 49.1 overs. Muhammad Shahzad top-scored with 96 runs, while Muhammad Waseem contributed 76 runs. The pair added a match-winning 147-run stand for the fourth wicket, steering their team to victory.

For Nepal, Karan KC took 3 wickets for 58 runs in 10 overs. Sandeep Lamichhane (1/35), Lalit Rajbanshi (1/48), and Nandan Yadav (1 wicket) were also among the bowlers to strike.

Earlier in the series, Nepal had suffered heavy defeats, losing by 106 runs to the USA in the first match, by 5 wickets to the UAE in the second, and by 4 wickets to the USA in the third.

In the League 2 standings, the USA lead the table with 36 points from 24 matches, while Nepal sit seventh with 12 points from 20 games. The UAE are at the bottom with 10 points from 20 matches.
