Chandra Bhandari says Nepali Congress cannot avoid general convention

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Chandra Bhandari has urged the party to make responsible and mature decisions amid the complex situation following the Gen-Z movement.

Bhandari said the current period calls for focus on resolving the country’s pressing national issues. “In such a sensitive moment, experience, responsibility, and mature decision-making are essential,” he stated.

He warned that exposing internal party conflicts publicly could lead to disappointment among the people and create uncertainty in the country. “Congress cannot deviate from the continuity of its responsible history,” he wrote on social media.

Bhandari highlighted that the party’s most powerful body has already submitted a proposal for the general convention with majority signatures, describing the convention as a symbol of the party’s regular process and vitality.

With former coalition partner CPN-UML also preparing to hold its convention in December, Bhandari emphasized that Congress must show leadership on national issues and cannot delay its own convention.

He wrote, “Debates and ideas have value in the market, but arguments that only say ‘it cannot be done’ do not.”
