Govt to provide Rs 2 lakh immediate relief to families of disaster victims

KATHMANDU: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has directed District Administration Offices to provide immediate financial relief of Rs 2 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives in recent floods and landslides.

Additionally, the Authority has instructed that injured individuals receive free medical treatment in coordination with local authorities.

Executive Chief of the Authority, Dinesh Prasad Bhatta, stated that District Administration Offices in the affected areas have been directed to carry out immediate rescue and relief efforts.

According to Bhatta, Rs 7 million has already been allocated to Ilam district, which suffered the most severe loss of life and property.

“We allocated Rs 7 million to Ilam due to the significant damage reported there. In other districts, we’ve asked officials to use funds from the District Disaster Fund, which already has sufficient resources,” he said.

The Authority has also instructed local governments and district offices to continue search, rescue, relief, and rehabilitation operations without delay.
