Widespread rainfall expected across the country today

KATHMANDU: Rain is expected across much of Nepal today due to the influence of moisture-laden monsoon winds from the Bay of Bengal, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Weather Forecasting Division has reported that skies will remain mostly overcast in Koshi and Madhes Provinces, generally cloudy in Bagmati and Lumbini Provinces, and partly cloudy in the rest of the country.

Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in many areas of Koshi and Madhes Provinces, as well as in some hilly and Terai regions of other provinces. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in Koshi and Madhes.

The Department has further stated that most areas in Koshi, Madhes, and Bagmati Provinces, along with the hilly regions of the country, will remain generally cloudy throughout the day.

Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some hilly areas of these provinces, while a few places in other regions may also experience rainfall. One or two locations in the hilly region of Koshi Province may see heavy downpours.
