Collective Kumari worship held in Basantapur

KATHMANDU: A collective worship of Kumaris was held today in front of Taleju Bhawani Temple in Basantapur, Kathmandu, in observance of the upcoming Indra Jatra festival.

A total of 504 young Kumari girls were worshipped as part of the ritual. Traditionally, the collective Kumari worship takes place the day after the erection of the Indra Jatra pole (lingo).

Devotees believe that by performing the Kumari worship, the young girls receive protection and blessings from Goddess Taleju Bhawani.
