CPN-UML’s Statute Convention begins today in Godavari

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML is set to inaugurate its second Statute Convention today (Friday) at the Sunrise Sabha Hall in Godavari, Lalitpur, with party representatives arriving from across the country.

The venue has been decorated with party banners, photos, and welcoming posters, while a 10-kilometer stretch from Satdobato to Godavari has been adorned to greet delegates. A reception gate has also been installed at the entrance.

According to CPN-UML Central Office Secretary Dr. Bhishma Raj Adhikari, the official slogan of the convention is: “Building a decisive national power is our resolution; a prosperous Nepal, a happy Nepali—our national destination.”

Security and access protocols have been strictly enforced. The convention hall accommodates 2,840 seats and has four entry points. Only Party Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will enter through the first gate. Other office bearers, ministers, and chief ministers will use the second and third gates along with their delegations.

Six ID card-scanning booths have been set up to facilitate the entry of representatives, observers, and volunteers. The fourth entrance is reserved for the transportation of food and drinking water for catering services.

Those entering through the public gates will be welcomed by a full-length photo of Chairman Oli and the official convention logo. Inside the hall, a 2,200-square-foot digital display has been installed. A media center is set up along one side of the hall, and ID checks are mandatory at multiple points.

On stage, Chairman Oli will be seated in the front section, while 17 other senior officials will occupy seats behind him according to protocol. In total, only 18 people will be seated on stage.

The opening ceremony will last just 12 minutes and will feature a sequence of thematic musical pieces—including a festive tune, a memorial for martyrs, the national anthem, and the international communist song.

Simultaneously, artists at the media center will perform live artwork, with select performances also taking place inside the hall.
