Actress Laxmi Shrestha passes away



KATHMANDU: Actress Laxmi Shrestha, best known for her role as “Apsara Aama” in the hit comedy series Meri Bassai, passed away on Friday night. A family source confirmed that she had been battling breast cancer and other health complications for the past several months.

Shrestha rose to fame for her portrayal of the sharp-tongued wife of “Khadka Ji” (played by Sitaram Kattel) in Meri Bassai, a role that endeared her to audiences nationwide and made her a household name in Nepali television.

With a career spanning decades, Shrestha was active in various television series including Jire Khursani, Kanchi, and Ulto Sultho.

She also appeared in numerous Nepali films and music videos, including a role in the Shiva Hari Poudel-directed movie Lakka Jawan.

Her contribution to Nepal’s entertainment industry, particularly in the comedy genre, has left a lasting impact. Fans and fellow artists have begun expressing condolences and paying tribute to her legacy.
