Speaker’s meeting delayed as opposition holds internal discussions

KATHMANDU: A meeting called by Speaker Devraj Ghimire to forge consensus for resuming the House of Representatives session has been delayed due to ongoing internal discussions within opposition parties.

According to the Speaker’s Secretariat, the meeting of chief whips was supposed to begin earlier but has not started yet as opposition leaders have yet to arrive.

Speaker Ghimire is currently waiting in the office of CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair and Parliamentary Party Leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, Law Minister Ajay Chaurasiya, and chief whips from the ruling coalition are present at the venue. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi has also arrived for the meeting.
