Kailash Mansarovar distant viewing begins from Humla’s Limi Lapcha

HUMLA: Distant viewing (doordarshan) of Kailash Mansarovar has begun from Limi Lapcha Lolung in Ward No. 6 of North Namkha Rural Municipality, Humla.

According to Prem Bahadur Lama, Chairperson of Namkha Rural Municipality, the route to Limi via North Nyalu, Nara, and Hilla was opened in the second week of Baisakh.

Since then, domestic tourists have started arriving in Limi from the first week of Jestha to view the sacred Kailash Mansarovar from Lapcha.

Lama emphasized that although the region has strong potential to become a major tourist destination, the lack of proper infrastructure and management has limited tourist flow to domestic visitors only.

The period between Jestha and Kartik is considered the best time for Kailash Mansarovar doordarshan.

In contrast, heavy snowfall during the six-month winter season renders roads to Hilsa, Nyalu, Yari, Nara, and surrounding areas impassable.

Ward Chairperson Paljor Tamang noted that with the roads now cleared of snow, tourist activity in the Limi Valley is gradually picking up.

“Kailash Mansarovar can be clearly seen from Lolung in Limi. This spot lies just 105 kilometers from Simkot, the district headquarters of Humla. If the road is upgraded, this route could be more convenient than the traditional Hilsa route,” he said.

Travelers can reach Limi Valley from Simkot in one day by vehicle or in four days on foot.

Tourists are advised to carry essentials such as food, tents, waterproof jackets, warm clothing, trekking shoes, walking sticks, and necessary medicines.

Despite the unique opportunity to view Kailash Mansarovar from Nepali territory, tourist numbers remain low due to inadequate promotion and awareness.
