According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Jhapa, around 200 grams of brown sugar were recovered from a bag on a motorcycle bearing the Indian registration number BR 37 Ta 9198.

The motorcycle was en route from Sharanamati to Surunga along the Surunga-Jhapa road section in Kankai-5.

The suspect fled the scene after abandoning both the motorcycle and the bag when a police team attempted to stop the vehicle at around 8:40 AM.

“Two rounds of warning shots were fired in the air to stop the rider, who escaped upon seeing the police,” said DSP Khadka.
