NP Saud urges govt to address teachers’ demands

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader NP Saud has called on the government to immediately address the demands raised by protesting teachers, expressing his support for the ongoing agitation in the capital.

Taking to social media, Saud emphasized the importance of quality education for national development.

“Education is the basis of the country’s prosperity, and progress is not possible without education reform,” he wrote on Facebook. “Quality education can only be ensured through satisfied teachers. Therefore, there should be no delay in solving the problems of teachers and employees and taking the country towards prosperity.”

Saud also pledged his continued support for the teachers’ movement, particularly in their campaign for reforms in community education and resolution of long-standing issues faced by educators and staff.

Teachers from across the country have gathered in Kathmandu, voicing dissatisfaction with several provisions in the proposed School Education Bill. They have warned of intensifying their protests if the government fails to revise the bill to reflect their concerns.

The bill is currently under discussion in the thematic committee of the federal parliament. Stakeholders in the education sector have urged lawmakers to take the teachers’ concerns seriously to ensure lasting reforms in the school education system.
