RSP holding mass assembly in Chitwan today

KATHMANDU: In a virtual meeting of the central secretariat of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) held after the arrest of its Chair Rabi Lamichhane, Vice President DP Aryal has been entrusted with the responsibility of Acting Chair.

Meanwhile the RSP has decided to move forward with the rally, scheduled to be held at 2 pm on Saturday in Bharatpur, Chitwan.

The RSP has condemned what it describes as a strange practice by the police, including entering homes and writing legal documents following the court’s decision.

The party asserted that this is illegal and cannot be justified under the rule of law.

The RSP said that it recognizes the decision made by the Tulsipur-Butwal bench of the High Court regarding party Chair Lamichhane as a ruling from one level of law.

As Lamichhane stated in his video message, the party will always respect the court’s decisions and will continue to seek justice at the next level, based on the court, constitution, and law.

The RSP also strongly condemned the police’s actions in arresting without an arrest warrant and the unusual practice of writing a warrant at the Lamichhane’s house while he was in his bedroom. This act is deemed illegal and an insensitive violation of citizens’ rights.
