RSP warns govt against removing Kulman Ghising

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP Manish Jha has issued a stern warning to the government, cautioning against the removal of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising.

Speaking during the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, Jha criticized the government’s alleged efforts to oust Ghising from his position.

Jha expressed concerns over what he described as political interference in public institutions. He highlighted Ghising’s contributions to the NEA and accused the government of creating excuses to remove him.

“We have seen how political gains are prioritized in public institutions. On the other hand, individuals like Kulman Ghising, who have brought significant benefits to the organization, are being undervalued,” Jha said.

He further warned, “If the government removes one Kulman, we will bring back thousands of Kulmans.”

Kulman Ghising is widely popular in Nepal and has been credited with transforming the NEA, turning it from a loss-making entity into a profitable organization during his tenure.

His potential removal has raised concerns among stakeholders and the public, who view his leadership as instrumental in Nepal’s recent improvements in electricity supply and management.
