KATHMANDU: Kanchanpur police have arrested Uddhav Bohara, 34, of Bedkot Municipality-1, who was wanted in connection with a murder case.

SP Chakraraj Joshi confirmed Bohara’s arrest in Kathmandu and subsequent transfer to Kanchanpur.

Bohara, a former member of the Nepali Congress Kanchanpur District Working Committee and general convention representative, is accused of the murder of Harka Bahadur Khadayat of Bedkot.

According to SP Joshi, Khadayat was assaulted by a group, including Bohara, on November 14, 2023, while returning from a Deusibhailo event in Hattithala, Bedkot Municipality-1.

Initially, a case of assault was registered against five individuals, including Bohara, who was subsequently arrested. Following Khadayat’s death on December 26, 2023, during treatment, the charges were upgraded to murder.

While Bohara is now in custody, four other suspects remain at large. Police have stated that efforts to arrest them are ongoing.

In a separate operation, Kanchanpur police also arrested two additional absconding defendants on Tuesday. The individuals apprehended are Bhanu Dagoura of Krishnapur Municipality-6 and Ishwar Rawal of Krishnapur Municipality-1, according to SP Joshi.

Dagoura was convicted of murder and sentenced to six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15,000 by the District Court on September 2, 2024. Rawal was convicted of human trafficking and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 100,000. Both individuals will be presented to the District Court.
