KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML central committee meeting is taking place today.

Party Chairperson and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to present a political report at the meeting, which is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM at the party’s central office in Chyasal.

UML Vice Chair Surendra Pandey stated that while there has traditionally been group discussion on the report, this time, arrangements have been made for each central committee member to express their views individually.

Each member will be allotted three minutes to share their opinion. At the start of the meeting, Chair Oli will brief participants on the latest political developments.

Vice Chair Pandey further noted that Oli’s political report will address future action plans, strengthening of the party organization, current government formation, past government partnerships, government priorities, constitutional amendments, economic reforms, cooperatives, and more.

Central committee members and heads of commissions will participate in the meeting, which is scheduled to last two days.

On January 2, the UML secretariat meeting approved the political report to be presented at the central committee gathering.

This meeting will be the first held since the formation of the government under Oli’s leadership.

It is expected that, ahead of the winter session of Parliament, the meeting will determine key agenda items, including a potential constitutional amendment.
