Festivals highlight Nepal’s unity in diversity: Vice President Yadav

KATHMANDU: Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has said that Nepal’s many festivals offer the nation an opportunity to celebrate unity in diversity, honor its cultural heritage, and strengthen the spirit of coexistence.

Extending his best wishes for happiness, peace, prosperity, good health, and progress to Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of the Udhauli festival, he emphasized the importance of these celebrations in reinforcing national identity.

“May these festivals inspire us to move forward with a commitment to building an inclusive, just, and prosperous society while upholding Nepal’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, national unity, and the rights of the people,” the Vice President said in his message.

Udhauli, celebrated by the Kirat community, including the Rai, Limbu, Sunuwar, and Yakkha communities, is regarded as a festival that expresses reverence for nature, gratitude, and collective harmony.

Traditional dances, songs, and cultural performances form a major part of the celebrations. Vice President Yadav noted that the Sakela dance performed on this occasion reflects the deep connection between nature and human life and showcases Nepal’s rich indigenous traditions.
