Nepal, China discuss strengthening bilateral health cooperation



KATHMANDU: Health and Population Minister Dr. Sudha Sharma held a courtesy meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song on Tuesday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the health sector, the Ministry of Health and Population said.

During the meeting at the ministry, officials held detailed discussions on improving and expanding services at BP Koirala Cancer Hospital, Bharatpur, and Civil Hospital.

The two sides also explored collaboration between traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, production and processing of medicinal herbs in Nepal, strengthening emergency health services, and establishing a state-of-the-art gene laboratory within the country.

Minister Gautam expressed her heartfelt gratitude for China’s continued support during the Covid pandemic and for ongoing assistance in cancer treatment and hospital service enhancement.
