Former NEA MD Hitendra Dev Shakya files petition in Supreme Court against transfer

KATHMANDU: Former Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Hitendra Dev Shakya has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court challenging the government’s decision to transfer him.

Shakya has sought reinstatement to his position as the Managing Director of NEA through the petition. His case has been scheduled for a hearing on Tuesday before Justice Nripdhwaj Niraula’s bench.

If the Supreme Court issues an interim order in his favor, Shakya will resume his responsibilities as NEA’s Managing Director.

Following the Gen-Z movement, the government led by Prime Minister Sushila Karki had transferred Shakya through a cabinet decision and appointed Manoj Silwal as the new Managing Director of NEA.
