FNCCI assures immediate reconnection of power lines for industries on deposit payment

KATHMANDU: Chandra Prasad Dhakal, president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has assured that power lines disconnected due to disputes over premium charges on dedicated feeders and trunk lines will be restored immediately once industrialists pay a deposit.

Posting on Facebook, Dhakal said that industrialists who submit a deposit equivalent to one installment under the previous 28-installment scheme will have their disconnected power lines reconnected without delay.

“Under this proposal, once industrialists submit a deposit equal to one installment of the 28-installment facility, the cut electricity lines will be reconnected immediately. At the same time, they will have the opportunity to seek review and legal remedies regarding the disputed amount,” he wrote.

Dhakal described the proposal as a moderate solution and noted that it was discussed in a high-level meeting involving Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal, Energy Minister Kulman Ghising, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Anil Sinha, Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal, and other ministry secretaries.

He added that this step would ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to industries, help normalize operations, and foster an environment of trust and cooperation between the private sector and the government.
