Squatter families along Bagmati in Balkhu relocated to school

KATHMANDU: More than a hundred squatter families living along the Bagmati River in Balkhu, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–14, have been relocated after rising water levels inundated the riverside settlement.

Following flooding in the Balkhu–Kuleshwar area, the Armed Police Force transferred the families to Janavikas Secondary School in Balkhu.

APF Deputy Superintendent and assistant spokesperson Shailendra Thapa said the nearby vegetable market in Balkhu was also cleared after floodwaters entered the area.
