Govt announces two-day public holiday amid continuous rainfall

KATHMANDU: The government has declared Sunday and Monday as public holidays after days of heavy rainfall severely disrupted transportation and daily life.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said the decision was taken as movement across the country has become difficult due to incessant rain. Based on the ministry’s recommendation, the Cabinet approved the additional two-day holiday.

Government offices were scheduled to reopen on Sunday following the Dashain festival break, but services will now resume only from Tuesday.
