Govt directs all district office chiefs to report to duty amid heavy rainfall risk

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has ordered all district office chiefs across the country to immediately report to duty, citing the risk of heavy rainfall and possible natural disasters.

According to the ministry, the directive follows forecasts by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, which has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in several parts of the country between October 3 and 6.

In line with instructions received from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the ministry has instructed all district-level office chiefs to ensure they are present at their duty stations no later than October 4.

The ministry has also directed district coordination officers and chief administrative officers of local governments to adopt high alertness, undertake necessary preparedness measures, and remain ready for disaster response.

A notice issued by Under Secretary Bhuvaneshwar Lamichhane stated:

“Given the risk of heavy rainfall in the coming days, all agencies must remain vigilant, focus on preparedness, and be ready for immediate response to minimize the impact of possible natural disasters.”

The ministry further warned of possible floods, landslides, and road blockages, urging the public to stay in safe locations and strictly follow official safety advisories.
