Road collapse near Kohinoor Housing puts homes at risk in Kathmandu-14

KATHMANDU: Several houses have been placed at risk after a section of road near Kohinur Housing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14 caved in due to river cutting.

According to city officials, the collapse occurred on Monday morning after a landslide eroded part of the road along the riverbank. “Homes situated close to the site could be affected if erosion continues,” the metropolis said in a statement.

In coordination with the Disaster Management Department, the Metropolitan Police Force has been mobilized to prevent further damage. Authorities are using sandbags and gravel to contain the cutting and stabilize the area.

Officials warned that continued rainfall could worsen the situation, and additional preventive measures are being prepared.
