Vehicles halted at Kavre Bhanjyang and Mangalatar along BP Highway amid heavy rains

KATHMANDU: Authorities have stopped vehicles entering and leaving the Kathmandu Valley via the BP Highway after continuous downpours triggered safety concerns.

Outbound vehicles from the Valley have been halted at Kavre Bhanjyang, while those entering Kathmandu have been stopped at Mangalatar, according to officials. Security personnel stationed along the route said traffic movement would resume only after road conditions are assessed to be safe.

Heavy rains in Bhakundebesi, Dhulikhel and Banepa increased the risk of road accidents and landslides, prompting security forces to direct vehicles to safe locations.

The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport said vehicles will be allowed to move once the rainfall eases and road conditions improve.
