KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have issued an unusual directive asking Kathmandu Valley residents to avoid using pressure cookers with whistles late at night and early in the morning.
The Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, published a public notice urging people not to disturb neighbors as part of a campaign for a neighborhood free of noise, smoke, and pollution.
The notice also requested that residents refrain from unnecessary coughing and spitting during morning exercise, and advised motorcycle and vehicle owners not to rev engines loudly in the early morning hours. If a vehicle produces loud noise, police have asked that it be started away from residential areas.
