RSP’s public affairs secretary Badan Bhandari attacked in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Badan Bhandari, Secretary of the Public Affairs Department of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), was attacked late last night in Pragati Chowk, Kapan, according to party officials.

RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane’s aide Pramod Nyaupane said three assailants on a motorcycle with its number plate concealed carried out the attack. Two of them struck Bhandari with iron rods, while the third was carrying a khukuri.

Bhandari sustained a deep head injury that required 10 stitches, and also suffered multiple bruises across his body. According to Nyaupane, Bhandari managed to escape and save his life, though his vehicle was vandalized during the incident.

The RSP has informed police about the attack and has demanded an impartial investigation, saying the assault was politically motivated.

Party sources revealed that Bhandari had been receiving threats following an interview he gave to Nari TV. Recently, individuals had even visited his office inquiring about him.
