35 new COVID-19 cases reported in a week

KATHMANDU: COVID-19 cases are on the rise again in Nepal, with infections recently being reported in multiple districts across the country.

According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), COVID-19 has been detected in 31 districts from January 1 to July 3, 2025.

A total of 249 cases have been confirmed so far, with 35 cases reported in the past week alone. In the last 24 hours, three new infections have been confirmed, and one person has died from the virus.

In response to the growing risk, the Ministry of Health and Population has intensified COVID-19 surveillance at 17 border checkpoints by setting up health desks where testing is being conducted using the Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) method.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses, the ministry has advised the public to wear masks, wash hands frequently with soap and water or use hand sanitizer, and maintain personal hygiene.

People returning from areas with confirmed outbreaks and those experiencing COVID-like symptoms have been urged to stay in self-quarantine or isolation.
