National Assembly members demand probe into ‘cooling-off period’ controversy

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers in the National Assembly have called for a serious investigation into the controversy surrounding the ‘cooling-off period’ provision in the Federal Civil Service Bill and demanded action against those responsible.

The issue was raised during the Zero Hour of today’s assembly meeting, where several members voiced concerns over the bill passed by the House of Representatives and now under consideration in the National Assembly.

Assembly member Gangakumari Belbase demanded a thorough investigation into the incident involving the controversial cooling-off period clause and called for strict action against those involved.

Member Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami also demanded action against those who allegedly manipulated the bill’s contents. Similarly, member Mrigendra Singh Yadav insisted on an investigation and punishment for those who, he claimed, tampered with the Federal Civil Service Bill.

Member Jag Prasad Sharma urged the government to prepare adequately for risks associated with the monsoon season, citing warnings from meteorologists and disaster experts.

Member Taraman Swar stressed the importance of preparedness amid growing concerns over a potential major earthquake in the western region.

Member Dr. Beduram Bhusal questioned the delay in distributing the report on the Federal Civil Service Bill, expressing suspicion over the lack of transparency.
