Youth killed in crocodile attack in Chitwan

CHITWAN: A 27-year-old man lost his life in a crocodile attack while fishing in the Budhirapti River in Chitwan district on Thursday night.

According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, the victim has been identified as Abhisek Majhi, a resident of Chitrasari in Ratnanagar Municipality-8. He had gone to the river for fishing with a friend when the crocodile attacked him.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabindra Khanal confirmed the fatal incident and said further investigation is underway. The tragic encounter highlights the ongoing risks faced by locals who frequent rivers in areas bordering Chitwan National Park, a known habitat for mugger and gharial crocodiles.

Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution around riverbanks, particularly during evening and night hours when such attacks are more likely.
